In January of 1997 Stuart Whitaker, manager of what was then New Life Books & Gifts, knew the potential of the internet and desired to have a website for the store. Once the name had been secured, theNewLife.com was launched as nothing more than an online yellowpage ad. About a year later, after learning the wonders of Front Page 97/98, that ad became a fancy online flier. As the next 2 years went by, the vision for theNewLife.com began to change. Several customers and friends had supported the idea of a resource website for Christians. At the same time, e-commerce was getting bigger and Jim, Stuart, and Todd Whitaker each saw the importance of staying on the cutting edge of the Christian retail market. Through the support and technical tools available from The Parable group, a new retail site was designed for what is now New Life Christian Stores, central Virginia's largest Christian store. Offering a complete e-commerce site, NewLifeChristianStores.com, is where theNewLife.com was headed for the retail side of our vision. Still there was the Christian resource side of our vision that we desired to see fulfilled. After searching for ideas, and praying for the Lord to guide us, along came Innovative Church Marketing. They had developed a way for us to provide what we had visioned for a Christian community site and more! So on November 7, 2000 (election day), theNewLife.com was relaunched, this time fulfilling the vision we had for over 2 years for a Christian community website. Thank you Lord Jesus for the blessings you have given us! New Life Christian Stores has been serving the Christians of Central Virginia for over 15 years.
